Events
Link is first introduced in Level 01, transforms into a Sage in Level 21, and attains the Wind Medallion in Level 24... 12, technically, but we won't worry about that. He's a young man who's life was drastically changed due to his chance meeting and infatuation with Zelda, the woman who met with him one stormy night.
Later, in Level 08, Zelda tells Link that she doesn't need him anymore. In a period of three days, something happens to Link (discussed in a pair of later Levels) and he meets up with the other Sages again in Level 10, completely changed. Link undergoes the trial of the Wind Sage, as conducted by Farore, and passes. Later, when the Sages try to find the location of the Temple of Time, Link transforms into a Sage for the first time. At the Temple of Time he acquires the Wind Medallion and duels Rei.
Link's parents are bottle shop owners in a far-off town.
Personality
Link's personality is shallow, at first appearance. He's completely infatuated with Zelda, so any chance of seeing a personality in the early stages of the series is lost because he's constantly going out of his way trying to please her or trying to get her to notice him. However, as he begins to spend time away form Zelda and analuze exactly why he's in love with her, and after returning, Link begins to show a more thoughtful side, and decides that he'll stay with the one he loves no matter what. Link is a very determined person when it comes to his own self-interests, and spouts off a lot of cliches, but he's one ready to work for his unrequited love.
As the story progresses, Link is revealed to be exceptionally fragile. Whenever something bad or tragic happens, he feels like crumbling down. However, his greatest strength is that he knows how to suffer, and it's because of that that the other Sages give him their support and back him up.
Among the Hylian Knights, a special tradition is practiced. When Link promised to himself to protect Zelda, even if his feelings were never reciprocated, he wore the red ribbon on his head. However, when he, in a drunken stupor, accepted Zelda's "payment", he felt like he broke his promise in a way. As a result, he took off the ribbon. Right now, Zelda has his ribbon, and he has Zelda's pendant when she disappeared and was replaced by Sheik.
Author's Notes
In truth, Link is probably the hardest character for me to come up with and develop, and eventually I just tore the character to shreds and began to rebuild him the way I wanted to. This is because most people who read this series have played the videogames, and have set images of Link in their minds. At first I worried about disappointing them, but I found out that by avoiding the subject at all is worse than giving them something they would dislike.
In the end, Link turned out pretty good, in my opinion. A bit generic, maybe, but I like him enough.
Batle Statistics
Class: Warrior
Weapon: Sword - His current sword is currently a loaner from Ruto. Link also has a shield, but he rarely uses it.
Element: Wind
Abilities:
Link, as a Warrior, has a slightly average standing in luck, attack, vitality, health, and speed. However, his abilities are more focused on physical prowness than magic, so he's not accustomed to using magical abilities. Link is very inexperienced with fighting, much less wielding a sword, so he's often clumsy and has trouble contributing towards fights that require more knowledge of a weapon and its uses. However, Link's ingenuity and luck allow him to survive with quick thinking and wit.
