Cast - Ruto Michelle Zorada
The long lost Zora princess who seemingly forfeited her rights to royalty and instead studied to become a blacksmith and studied the legend surrounding the Seven Sages. She is quite knowledgable about Hyrule and the legend, and is the first character able to cast healing magic. She is a competent fighter with her fists, although she also wields the Hookshot and Ice Rod. Her magical element is water.

Events
Ruto first appears in Level 01. She has already attained her Sage status and Medallion beforehand. Ruto was born to King Zora and a handmaid, and was held in secrecy. Any females born to the royal family were immediately executed, so her ties to King Zora were hidden. She pushed herself to excel as a scholar. Her brother, Michael, was the Water Sage and was killed while protecting her, and that's when she first transformed into the Water Sage. This is when her heritage was discovered.
However, her power was too great, so they sealed away most of her power with teardrop-shaped earrings. Ruto then left to Death Mountain after reading about the Legendary Battle that occurred 1000 years ago so she could study under Master Biggoron in order to forge the Biggoron's Master Sword. She dated Darunia during that time. However, due to yet unknown reasons, she suddenly stopped her training and left Darunia, and waited at Lake Hylia for the day that was the come when she would fulfil her duties as a Sage.
In Level 18 Sazanami breaks free of Ruto. Sazanami is the reason why all of the female members of the Royal Family were killed. She was the Original Water Sage, and she wished revenge upon the Zora by reincarnating herself through the female members of the Royal Family. However, Koume tricked Sazanami and Ruto regained control of her body.
In Level 44, she and Darunia are trapped in an avalanche. They took this opportunity to talk about their past, and ended their relationship on good terms. In Level 37, she sings the summoning song for the Ancient at Great Bay, where Rei asked her to be in a relationship with him. She eventually found out that he was only using her, but opted to stay by his side and support him.
In Level 51, Ruto activates and restores the Water Crystal, and it opens up her latent powers of a Sage Guardian. However, she opted to seal her powers, as her past experiences with power surges ended up disastrous.
Personality
Ruto at first appears very happy and cheerful, although she does take her Sage responsibilities seriously and urges the others to do the same. She's very knowledgable about many different aspects of Hyrule, and is always valuable to have around when encountered with a new situation. Even if she doesn't know what's going on, her mind allows her to quickly notice what's going on and be able to adapt to many situations.
Ruto has had a relationship with Darunia sometime in the past. She was very secretive about it, and avoided him at most costs, although she placed their destinies as Sages before any personal feelings (although she wasn't always successful). Although she has reason to be jealous of Saria, she redirected this at Darunia.
It was revealed that Darunia and Ruto indeed had a relationship in the past, and Darunia met a girl named Reina. Reina became insanely jealous of Ruto, so she attacked her and stole the egg Ruto had from Darunia as well as the bracelets he gave her. Ruto was so traumatized that she left Death Mountain.
Ruto likes acting like everyone's big sister, wishing to emulate her brother who always protected her. She's very protective of whoever she chooses to befriend, and refuses to let anyone hurt who she loves. However, whenever she's in a rage, she loses herself and could cause more problems than she solves.
Author's Notes
Ruto is probably the oldest of the characters I've created for Distant Promise (with the exception of Tatl). As a result, I forget most of my thoughts that formed her.

Ruto is a competent fighter, and is the team's only healer for a good while. Her statistics are all very well-rounded, but she might have trouble seriously contributing in a big fight if the boss has a specific weakness that she's not able to exploit.
