Events

Saria is first introduced in Level 01, and attains her Forest Medallion and transforms in Level 02. She lived in the Lost Woods until Ganondorf attacked her and held her prisoner inside of the Forest Temple, but the others saved her and she transformed into the Forest Sage. Later in Level 26, she encounters the faerie Tatl who asks of her to find her brother Tael.

In Level 37, she sings the summoning song for the Ancient, and the power of the song unleashes Tatl, who grants Saria her power; in turn, this causes her to age physically by four years. This also enables her to perform more powerful magic, and with tatl's help she is able to undo magic seals.

Personality

Saria is a very perky and chipper teenaged girl, and sometimes it makes people want to strangle her. She's never been out of the Lost Woods prior to her appearance, so when she joins the group she's always looking around the various towns and villages in order to see things that are foreign to her. She's actively chasing after Darunia.

Saria's past is that she lived with her grandfather in the Lost Woods, and is the only character in the party who can correctly navigate through it. However, her grandfather passed away, and she promised him to nto leave the forest until she was eighteen. However, she became lonely, and when she met Link and the others, decided to defy her grandfather's wishes because she knew that he would want her to be happy, above all else. However, she is still very sheltered, and doesn't know that people can take advantage of her naivete.

Basically, Saria's message is, much like most of the characters, maturity comes at a cost. You need to break free of your chains and vices in order to become what you want to become, and Saria's willing to do anything she has to do in order to attain what she wants. However, the other side of the message is that... what does it cost you to attain your dreams? Saria may have to sacrifice more than she bargained for in order to attain what she wants.

Author's Notes

One of the main themes I'm attempting to work with in Distant Promise is the theme of growing up and maturing. Well, while most characters do this over the course of the story, Saria's case is the most literal in some cases, and through her it was the easiest to illustrate. Out of that came this character.

I'm having a lot of fun drawing her and writing for her. I mean, I have fun with everyone, but there's just something about Saria that is sometimes genuinely cute, rather than annoying.

Battle Statistics

Class: Archer
Weapon: Faerie Slingshot, Faerie Bow
Element: Wood
Abilities:

Kozue Inazuma - Saria shoots a giant flurry of electrically charged flora. It's not too powerful, but what it has in its favor is the ability to cancel out other projectiles.

Mamoruno Miki - Saria can create a protective shield around her and her comrades.

Midori Dokkasou - Saria uses the Faerie Bow as well as her faerie Tatl in order to give a devastating blow.

Saria fights from afar, and is very quick in battle. Later in the series, with the help of Zelda, Ruto, and Darunia, she can cast Light, Ice, and Fire arrows respectively.
